School of Life
Ryan Reynolds lights up the screen as the charismatic and hip Mr. D, a teacher whose lessons extend far beyond the classroom. A heartwarming tale of learning to appreciate every moment we're given,

This is an extremely well done family movie. All of the actors deserve a gold star for superb performances. The story exposes how easily really good people sometimes become overwhelmed and misdirected when seeking personal recognition and approval from others. Overall~ the message is that life is short and every minute is worth appreciating~ even if you are not the most popular teacher or if you are playing on the basketball team that is losing the game. The film strikes a good balance between humorous and serious situations and remains interesting throughout. School of Life is a great film to watch over and over again
1.0 out of 5 starsI couldn't help but make fun of all the cheesy acting and music throughout

Watched this movie with my 8 year old after reading the reviews and just couldn't believe I got so duped. While I often find Ryan Reynolds to be funny- there was no way he could save this movie. And while my 8 year old watched it, I couldn't help but make fun of all the cheesy acting and music throughout. Yes, it is a clean family movie, but that shouldn't mean the acting and storyline had to be so bad (and predictable). David Paymer's role was the worst for me. I realize that the goal of the movie was to make his role as dweeby as possible, since he is competing with Ryan Reynolds's character to win the teacher of the year award and keep the family name on the trophy- but he (and his wife's) character were so bad that I couldn't overlook it. If you want a movie you can sit down and watch with the family- I'd pick something else.
This is my first review- but because I felt so let down by the positive reviews, I had to write one.
